Colorado Voices for Coverage Supports HB 1293: Colorado Healthcare Affordability Act
Colorado Voices for Coverage announced their support for Gov. Ritter’s Colorado Healthcare Affordability Act.
“This Act is a smart approach in troubled times. It allows scarce health dollars to be spent preventing small problems from becoming big emergencies,” said Ralph Pollock of Colorado Voices for Coverage and Business Health Forum.
With 800,000 Coloradans uninsured, many individuals and families are forced to forego preventative care and end up seeking treatment in emergency rooms. Emergency treatment is the most expensive kind of care, and that expense ends up costing all health care consumers more. The Colorado Healthcare Affordability Act would ease this counterproductive situation by increasing the amount of Federal Medicaid dollars the state could collect, and thus covering more Coloradans.
“The Act is both smart and fair. In today’s faltering economy, it’s more important than ever to ensure that each and every dollar spent on health care is spent efficiently. This bill does that.”
